Serve as a key contributor to the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the ERM Framework to ensure alignment with the Credit Union’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. Support a variety of ERM processes and programs including process mapping, process risk assessments, control development, new product risk assessments, and the development and maintenance of ERM-related documentation. Provide audit and examination support within assigned areas. Analyze key risk indicators (KRIs), and risk assessment results to prepare reports and insights for the ERM Department and governance committees.

 

This position is expected to be hybrid.

 

NYC Salary Range - $93,540 - $119,880 annually; compensation is commensurate to geographic location.

What you'll do

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the ERM Framework and associated documentation to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements, with primary responsibility for Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA).
  • Assist in maintaining ERM processes, including the oversight, tracking, and documentation of models in compliance with ERM Model Risk policy.
  • Contribute to the New Product risk assessment program by facilitating comprehensive risk assessments, summarizing results, and advising on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and ad-hoc projects as required to support the ERM Department and organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.

Risk Assessments:

  • Support the planning, execution, and documentation of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) across business units, providing recommendations for improvements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct control assessments to evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Monitor action plans for remediation of identified control weaknesses or risk issues.
  • Perform end-to-end process mapping to identify critical business processes, associated risks, and key controls.
  • Utilize data analytics and trends to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of risk assessments, uncovering potential impacts and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with departments to communicate findings, develop risk mitigation strategies, and provide insights that support the ERM Framework.

 Data Analysis and Risk Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret risk-related data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of concern, delivering actionable recommendations to mitigate potential risks effectively.
  • Develop and maintain detailed risk reports and dashboards, clearly presenting findings, insights, and suggested actions to stakeholders, including senior management and the Risk Management Committee (RMC).
  • Deliver timely responses to ad-hoc requests from management for analysis and reporting, supporting proactive risk oversight and strategic decisions.

  Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with First Line of Defense on daily activities within scope of responsibility to ensure traction is being made on key activities.
  • Foster and maintain strong inter-departmental relationships to support effective risk oversight and encourage a risk-aware culture across the organization.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and materials for the ERM Department such as for the Risk Management Committee.
  • Assist in the development of training materials to promote understanding and adherence to ERM Framework practices.
  • Communicate effectively with other ERM team members, colleagues,, senior management, and vendors.

What we're seeking

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial services, risk management, internal audit, compliance or a related field
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms, to create clear and impactful dashboards and reports
  • Background in RCSA, internal control frameworks and risk assessment methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize data into actionable insights

What makes you stand out

  • Experience with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks and practices is preferred
  • Experience in operational risk management is preferred
  • Familiarity with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) systems
  • Demonstrates strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and sound judgment
  • Knowledge of ERM and risk management principles, particularly within financial services preferred
  • Knowledge of risk governance frameworks and practices, including the Three Lines of Defense model, to support effective oversight and accountability preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of non-financial risks (Operational, Compliance, Fraud, BSA/AML etc.)
