  • Overview

    Responsible for general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and account and bank reconciliations. Participates in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and daily verifications, as well as posting journal entries for the Accounting Department. Follows and complies with UNFCU accounting policies and procedures and performs related duties as assigned. 

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze and reconcile various general ledger accounts; identify, research, and resolve any unreconciled items in a timely manner.
    • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts.
    • Review and process all travel and expense reports in Concur / Great Plains; ensure all authorized expenditures meet and comply with UNFCU procedures and policies.
    • Process Accounts Payable invoices for payments.
    • Post journal entries; ensure all vouchers contain proper supporting documentation and approval.
    • Monitor and process branch petty cash expense reports.
    • Process Official Checks & Money Order Stop Payment requests; ensure the requests are within / follow UNFCU procedures and policies; contain proper supporting documents.
    • Support the Accounting team with various daily, weekly, and monthly accounting processes.
    • Cross-train with designated personnel for back-up purposes.
    • Assist with audit requests.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    TYPE & AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with some relevant accounting experience (internships, etc.) 

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including strong Excel skills
    • Demonstrate a basic understanding of accounting principles

    • Perform work accurately, timely and efficiently, with strong attention to detail, organizational skills and follow through

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

    • Standard office conditions

    In addition to any specific job requirements in connection with Bank Secrecy Act and/or OFAC (BSA), employee must (i) be aware of BSA matters commensurate with the position; (ii) report any suspicious activity to the manager or compliance department; and (iii) satisfactorily complete any required BSA training.
