  • Overview

    The Instructional Designer will work to understand business needs, design learning content and create performance support deliverables. The successful candidate will focus on creating measurable learning outcomes that address needs related to raising understanding and changing behaviors in support of UNFCU’s corporate strategy. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Learning, this role is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining learning materials in a variety of media.


    • Identify learning objectives, performance gaps and performance outcomes by working collaboratively with program owners and subject matter experts
    • Oversee learning project lifecycle from intake, research, design, launch
    • Partner with the Corporate Learning team to ensure courseware is optimally designed for UNFCU’s LMS (learning management system) and corporate culture
    • Develop learning materials (user guides, scripts, story boards, etc.) to support business objectives
    • Manage all aspects of curriculum programs, including maintenance and implementation
    • Partner with third party vendors to develop and implement additional innovative learning solutions
    • Create metrics and methods to evaluate the impact of learning programs
    • Provide support and recommendations regarding training requests
    • Provide basic administrative back up support for LMS tasks
    • Keep current on learning industry best practices



    • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of design and development experience
    • Experience in needs assessment, storyboarding and instructional design
    • Experience working in a corporate environment


    • Thorough knowledge of adult learning theory and practice
    • Ability to design and evaluate diverse learning programs
    • LMS experience required; Saba LMS experience preferred
    • eLearning authoring tools experience a plus
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
    • Strong project management skills

    • Work assignments require the use of independent judgment and interpretation
