Overview

Responsible for overseeing small-to-medium projects in support of various business units. Analyzes existing systems and processes as well as assists in designing, developing, and customizing business solutions to improve operational effectiveness and meet UNFCU’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities

Project Planning
• Provide overview of the project management process to manage expectations of managers and end-users.
• In collaboration with senior management and stakeholders, define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals.
• Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely fashion.
• Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
• Plan and schedule project activities, timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Develop full-scale project plans and track project milestones and deliverables.
• Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
• Define project success criteria and disseminate to stakeholders throughout project lifecycle.

 

Resource Management
• Conduct project post-mortems; create recommendations report to identify success of project elements.
• Manage and coach project resources to manage lifecycle of business solutions projects, including systems and processes.
• Provide feedback to employees and consultants, keeping channels of communication open.
• Coach and empower team to create and deliver organization-wide communications, including new procedures, to keep staff informed of operational changes for their respective business units
• Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and work with IT and business groups to acquire the necessary resources.

 

Ongoing Project Management
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
• Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
• Coordinate activities and allocation of team members to tasks and measure, summarize, and report pertinent project activity and progress to project manager, project sponsor and/or senior management.
• Assist other UNFCU-assigned Project Managers to plan, coordinate, manage, and implement business objectives and other related activities for projects that span multiple areas of the organization.
• Ensure that system support for newly deployed applications exists and is transitioned successfully to the appropriate operational area.

• Disseminate information to functional area management, other IT managers, senior management and key stakeholders using established communication standards.
• Communicate and manage expectations of key stakeholders by maintaining open communication channels about business solutions activity.

 

Other Activities
• Serve as technical liaison between the credit union and third party vendors in defining, designing, and implementing automated systems.
• Ensure that system support for newly deployed applications exists and is transitioned successfully to the appropriate operational area.
• Work closely with business unit managers to ensure awareness of the IT services that can be provided to the business by respective Program Management Team.
• Participate in design and implementation of business solution implementation and business system support, standards, policies and procedures in support of operational and strategic goals.
• Enable team to design, customize, and generate reports for executive and department managers from various database sources in an efficient manner.
• Cross-train designated IT personnel for backup purposes.
• Perform any other functions, including administrative activities, as required by management.

Qualifications

TYPE & AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Information Technology and a minimum of 3-5 years of IT project management experience and/or experience in software design, support, development, database applications and applications development methodologies
• PMP certification required
• Business analysis and/or financial industry experience necessary

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Project and Access

 

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
• Highly organized with strong time management, project management and follow-up skills
• Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
• Excellent oral and written communication and service skills
• Strong analytical skills; advanced problem solving and needs assessment skills
• Ability to influence and lead without authority

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Critical system outages and system upgrades may require 24/7 coverage on short notice

 

In addition to any specific job requirements in connection with Bank Secrecy Act and/or OFAC (BSA), employee must (i) be aware of BSA matters commensurate with the position; (ii) report any suspicious activity to the manager or compliance department; and (iii) satisfactorily complete any required BSA training.
